I think someone with half a brain in their PR machine realised at some point that "engaging" with technically savvy customers was a waste of time precisely because we
do understand how their system will work. So the decision was made to disengage from an informed debate that they knew they couldn't win, and go into silent-running mode.
The only people they'll talk to now are potential clients (ISPs, advertisers) and, if they're absolutely forced to, regulators and legislators.
