A new remote is very easy to get. Just tell them it doesn't work.
The problem I had was getting them to beleive it wasn't a problem with the remote.
Even though I have 3 boxes and explained that the other remotes worked fine on the box, they kept trying to send a remote.
Eventually, after 20 minutes arguing they arranged an engineer call (who turned up with a new box, no questions asked).
