From what I read on these forums I think the answer is yes it is normal.
As you find a reboot helps maybe a re-format would help even more and then on the other hand it may not.
If you can with the V+ try temporarily switching off the option to cache x amount of the program being watched and see if it helps.
As you cannot record this cache it is useless except for live pause which I find (sky+ here) I rarely use as I mostly watch pre-recorded stuff and can just stop it and restart it from where I left off watching.
