Nope you will always need the cable modem you currently have.

In addition, to share your connection, you would need a router (wireless if you want that too). Just make sure that is is cable compatible, i.e. does not have an ADSL modem, inbuilt, and instead has an ethernet WAN (internet) side RJ45 port.

The last time I looked you could have at least three computers on your single Virgin Broadband.
