Yes, and I'd definitely get a better car. In fact it would be very difficult not to, engines are constantly modified and upgraded, safety systems are made safer, extras are made standard, the list goes on - it's progress (though not always
)
Just compare a base model, say, VW Golf from 5 years ago and one today - there has been loads of upgrades and modifications done. It's not all a conspiracy when you need spares and they ask they age of the car, they do actually upgrade them
. Whether one is better than the other is a different question and only time will tell if VM get this upgrade right or if we'll have loads of problems - I hope it goes well as my connection has always been very good.
