Re: What was your worst day in school ?
In Juniors we did tests every week to get us used to exams in preparation for the 11+. By some fluke I managed to get a near perfect score one week on the IQ test and the teacher pulled me up in front of the class, ridiculed my score and unjustly accused me of cheating.
The embarrassment was horrendous.
I was only 7 or 8 and I took off running, pelted out of the school, not stopping until I got home.
Dad was at home and having listened to what had happened, and seen the distressed state I was in, took me straight back to see what was going on.
I don’t know which was worse, being accused of cheating or the public apology the Teacher gave me when he was made to accept, by the Headmaster, that, with the highest score in the class by far, I had had no one to copy off.
I still feel uncomfortable now at the thought of that day.
