In that case I wasn't totally right. Composite/RGB is SD mode, and I didn't realise you didn't get the menus in that mode.

You'll need to plug the sender into the TV SCART to be able to see the menus. If you have the downstairs TV connected by SCART, that could be a problem Some TVs have SCART passthrough between two of their ports, so you could daisychain them (check the manual). Otherwise you might need to get a SCART splitter like this.
