Re: 20mb problem, please help? :)

Kitty, try downloading at 4.00AM from a fast UK server, that will tell you what your maximum speed is, if you get anywhere near 20Mb/s then you know that the problem is over-subscription in your area and that your equipment is working fine.
Earlier today I was getting as low as 29KB/s with Web pages loading like treacle but I know I will get 19Mb/s after 2.00AM.

VM aren’t going to spend any money on the current setup, they are going to wait until they install the DOSCIS 3 kit which will probably turn out to be sometime next year for most areas. Once the DOSCIS 3 kit is up and running, which has to be installed in order for them to provide a 50Mb service, they might, might, decide to put the 20Mb users onto it as well, this will solve the speed and latency problems for all users, unfortunately doing this will require replacing all 20Mb customers modems with a more expensive one, so there is no guarantee that this will happen.

Whatever you do, do not phone the TS if you are getting good speeds in the early hours, you are just throwing good money after bad. Wait until June 1st when the calls are free and then do what I intend to do, give them **** every day.
