Common occurrence around these parts, unhappily. Weekends are the worst.

I have to call the police probably every 2 out of four weekends without fail - sometimes through the week. The kids 'round here scare the life out of everyone.
The police don't come anymore - no exaggeration. They just don't arrive.
Last time I rang to speak to someone they gave me the usual log number and said let them know if things don't calm down. I rang back 20 mins later to say things were actually getting worse and gave them the log number.
It didn't exist.
When I asked why it didn't exist and why nobody had been to move on the fighting kids, they said "oh, it'll have been merged with another local incident and written off as 'attended to'. It happens all the time, we couldn't cope otherwise!".
I don't blame them - they're stretched to the max.
I'm not sure I blame anyone really, but I do know people think I'm exaggerating when I say it's a horrible, horrible place to live here now. My Wife doesn't leave the house once it gets dark. Once I'd go out to challenge kids. Now I just hope they'll pass by quickly and not kick my wing mirrors off.
P.S. Never heard the term 'charva'. Sounds like some kind of coffee to me?
