Just now if I connect the cable modem to 1 port via ethernet cable, then my pc to the next port it just assigns the WAN IP to the PC, ie bridges the connection, meaning no other computer attached can access the net.
Does anyone know how to configure the Speedtouch 780 to dish out IP addresses to the local network? Surely it's possible....??
Not necessarily. Routers with built in ADSL modems tend to built with that modem physically connected to the WAN port.
