When you connect your modem direct to the pc and then click on Internet Explorer what shows up?
your stb connection has now been cancelled what happens when you now try connecting.

Have you tried IE adress
activation.virginmedia.com

Have you tried setting up via router and pc that connects or are you trying with all connections at once
