Normally with flats you will have building's cover under a block policy. If you are a tenant, your landlord is normally responsible for this, especially if you are only on the 6 or 12 month shorthold type schemes.
You are however responsible for your contents, whether that be a loss from fire, explosion, theft, or flood! Some of those policies have add ons for cover such as accidental damage, legal advice and the like. Still all insurance is a gamble as to whether or not you might need it, compared to the premium you have to pay.
