Lovely bit of the country. I was going to suggest a tent, until you said "romantic"

Have you tried the AA Guide - gives star ratings and useful information. You wouldn't want a hotel that likes childen or pets, for example. Some nice hotels listed - entered "Windermere" as the location. Pricey but it'll be the area.
