To be honest, i agree with you however, when they say life, thats what they take. I mean i dont mean to echo the shawshank redemption here, but when they say life, thats what they take ,at least the part that counts. A lad who was in my year at my school murdered one of his friends mum's and got life, 17.5 years no parole. when he gets out he'll be 38. he was 21 convicted. now thats the best part of his life gone. most of us will be married with kids by that age. however, i am for the death penalty. an eye for an eye. so the judgement still falls short to me, i merely present the alternate arguement. Life sentence in our day and age is no cake walk.

(P.S i have had a few beers when writing this, so it may not be grammatically all there, but i hope my morals are clear and message gets across.)
