I didn't notice the banner with the oriental writing on the wall, if that's what you're referring to. I'm not familiar enough with Chinese & Japanese written languages to be able to tell the difference, but considering the dog looks rather like a
Kishu, & the sliding doors between the room the dog is in & the next room [a very popular architectural feature in Japan, apparently], I would guess it's more likely to be Japanese.

As I said, never heard of it. You'd have been better off leaving it as "vindaloo", as that's something far more people have heard of.

and spells them both incorrectly [which makes finding their definitions that much more awkward], I believe that falls into the category of "asking for it".
