Does it need to be both scarts connected to the box?

I've got it working ok now with the direct connection to AV1 on the TV coming from the 'VCR' scart output on the cable box as opposed to the TV output. Changing AV1 in the TV settings to Video as opposed to RGB gives a colour picture.
Not sure if there's that much of a big difference from Video to RGB...
pin 8 is (i think) for auto-switching,but you can now set the boxes to auto-detect off or on.
