Private Eye this week serialises extracts from Nick Davies' forthcoming book on the press 'Flat Earth News' in which he interviews an ex-policeman and an ex-Mail journalist who told him that the Mail routinely hands over money to bent coppers and civil servants for information from the PNC and benefits databases.
