You will only need the Virgin Media install disk if you are using dialup, or a USB connection. Otherwise don't let that anywhere near your computer.

Make sure when you swapover whatever connect your computer or router direct to the modem, you power the modem and connected device off for 10 seconds, power the modem let settle then power the connected device.
