Yup, he has to call a number when connected like you say, thats when the probs started. So I'm told.
Btw, he had instructions from the sales person on what to do and when !!
then they say, we can't give you the package you signed-up for .
His argument is being offered a package which was a good deal compared to what he was on with VM, then later they can't give what they promised on the contract.
(this package was the reason for changing from VM to Sky)
