It should work.

I am trying to remember how I got around that using my domain and ntl SMTP servers, I'll try to get back to you on this.

The solution really depends on what outbound email service your host provides.

The easiest way is to configure a new account with your host email address that POP 3's from your domain, but SMTP's out using the Virgin/NTL servers. Make sure that your reply-to address is the same as your outbound address.
