assuming that your router WRT54G is giving out IP Addresses using DHCP and the scope can cope with another device you should just be able to plug it in and go. Dell normally come configured to use DHCP by default for networking.

Not sure why you want to set up the wireless network again? - You having issues?/Want ot make the Dell wireless?

No real issues mixing operating systems although your Vista machine will probably be slower! (that's another issue!)
