When I have been hit by STM I get a rock solid 5Meg, this is usually faster than the speed I was getting before the STM kicked in, if contention was an issue I wouldn't see a speed increase with STM so I can only assume that normally during the curfew I am being traffic managed by VM as and when it suits them.
