My system may not be bleeding-edge, but it's hardly 5 years old either: AMD X2 6000+, 4GB RAM, ATI X800 GTO, etc.

Yes, well, not all of us sit with our noses pressed up against the screen.
I had to put up with 1280x1024 when playing around with *buntu live CDs, & it's too damned small for regular use for me. Hopefully I shouldn't have any probs getting 1024x768 once I do a proper install.
