virgin media email attachment size?

why is it that since virgin media took over telewest i can no longer send files of any significant size (eg 2MB +) as email attachments? the server simply disconnects part of the way through the upload. are virgin capping upload sizes, and if so where do they advertise this fact to their customers?

to say i am disappointed at this development would be an understatement, but their online support have failed to respond to 2 queries on the subject, and their telephone support played dumb and told me to reinstall my email client - which i know for a fact is not at fault.

i might add that i think it is shameful for virgin to start charging for support for products which we, the customers, pay for and expect to work. blueyonder support was both free and excellent.
