An adsl router would not work as it has a modem installed and does not have a wan port for your cable modem to be attached.
The router saying its a DSL/Cable would work with both if a adsl modem was attached to it via a wan port. The router in question is simpley a internet router with 4 port switch and wireless gateway it could not connect to the internet without a modem either cable or adsl connected to it.
