I leave my pc 24/7 in my home office but the problem i have is if i leave the pc say for a hour the internet stops working and i have to type ip config/release then ipconfig/renew to get it to work again,

before risking the firmware update, check your router is set to 'obtain an IP automatically' or 'using DHCP'
