I've never used them, but I'd think it is the same as using wired ethernet. It's faster than wireless, more stable and more secure. I can (occasionally) see the wireless networks of three neighbours, and I've had to experiment quite a bit to figure out the best place to site my router to get decent wireless coverage (I'm on ADSL, so can use any phone socket for the router). Even then, I find I often connect at 24Mbps rather than 54. Not a big problem, but higher speeds are nice when transferring large files. So, short answer: If your wireless coverage is patchy (and tbh, it often is with neighbours' networks, wet dogs, DECT phones and Microwaves), they sound brilliant. All the advantages of wired but without the wires. They seem a bit too pricey atm, but I'd consider them if prices drop.
