It's a right royal pain. When I bought my present car the only option open to me other than the crap, default single shot CD player were an autochanger which consumed the whole glove box or the DVD satnav which cost the best part of 3 grand which would have pushed the cost of the car close to £30K
You can probably get a fascia adapter to fit an aftermarket unit but that's not the point. Manufacturers of so-called "premium" cars should stop taking the preverbial and start moving with the times.
