Having never tried Linux, except the Knoppix version that runs directly from a disk - which actually wasn't too bad, I.e. I couldn't crash it, I can't really comment. The trouble is that there's so many versions of Linux that it's difficult to determine which is the best.
In saying that, I really don't like the Linux mascot - a penguin, gimme a break, surely someone could have come up with something better than that..!
