Indeed. A lot of Dual-Boot problems (not just with Linux mind you!) Are actually caused by Microsoft's complete and utter taking over of the boot sector, if you Install Windows on a machine already running Linux for instance - does it ask you if you want to install a boot menu? No! For Linux, booting windows can sometimes be a bit of guesswork, expecting the boot files to be in a certain place, and when they're not, chaos can ensue! But as has been said in previous posts, these are usually easy to fix given a bit of experience and perhaps some Google search know-how
