Try deleting the device from the USB list with USBdeview -
http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/usb...usbdeview.html and reinstalling.
We know the scanner is working so it must be a driver issue, is there a forum on Canon's website for this scanner running under Vista. I googled this problem but couldn't see much relevant unfortunately.
