It does specify NiMH as an acceptable battery type - most digitals push Akalines far too hard.

Big advantage of cameras running on NiMH AA, you can buy a lot of reserve power for a sensible price, though the need to accomodate 2 or in some cameras, 4 AA cells rather dictates the size and shape, If you can mantain a reasonable charging regime with a smart charger that can top-up from any condition, no need to use more expensive pre-charged cells.

If it can run acceptably on alkalines, that is a bonus, as any place with a store should have some in an emergency.
