Re: Connect 2nd home pc to internet

I'd hazard it's because not everybody thinks opening up their PC is an exciting way to spend a couple of hours.
I know i`ve been told a million times never to exaggerate

It takes minutes to stick a spare nic in in reality

If the two PC's are next to each other why can't you just buy another NIC card for like £10 and some cross-over patch cable, then connect that way? Would be ALOT cheaper than a router setup?
You get them a lot cheaper than that on Ebay etc
I got two perfectly good 3com 10/100Mb cards for about £3 all in including p+p

You could spend the £30(?) on the router for ease and simplicity but you could also spend £5(?) on a spare nic & patch cable for ........ease and simplicity

EDIT:Theres new Gigabit cards for £1.65 on Ebay just now
