It could possibly reduce your sync speed if either the cable quality isn't that good it it just happens to make it that Bit to far longer...

Its best to only have wires 2 and 5 connected and NOT have the ringing wire connected, since there's a capacitor in the micro filter this should NOT affect the ability of the phone to ring correctly.

Reason for doing so is the ringing wire can act as a sort of antenna and picks up noise/interference that upsets the ADSL

Depending on the wiring/location though some people not having them connected it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference where as for others having those wires disconnected increased their sync speed quite considerably.
