on your computer that is working.

click start->run
enter "cmd" and press enter
type "ipconfig /all" and press enter

you should now have listed the gateway, subnet, dns servers etc etc
the only thing you should enter different on your laptop is the IP address

If your computer is say 192.168.1.2 you will probably want your laptop to be 192.168.1.3 personally i would use something like 192.168.1.22 or something different rather than sequencial incase of conflicts.
