Thought this didn't show the duration for currently recording programmes? I work away from home so can't check ATM.

Surely it doesn't lose the buffer when you go into any menus? What about when you still have the mini TV display on view?

Sounds like your Philips is pretty close to TiVo in functionality. Great how a 9+ year old piece of kit still beats V+ and Sky+ hands down for functionality.
I actually used to work for TiVo in the US. It was a hard sell trying to explain what a PVR was in 2000...
