ok i may be a little dumb here, but shouldnt the cable from modem-router and the cable from router-pc both be cat5e or cat6

please?

if they are different cables then that is my problem

i have tried a couple of different cables just in case

the WAN port is connected to the modem via a cat5e cable

the port 1 is 1 0f 4 ports connected to computer via a cat5e cable
