The Server is Virgin Media. All your Mail is stored there (like a Post Office). Your Laptop/PC will use Outlook & everytime you click "Send / Recieve" it will connect to the Server (Post Office) & Dowmload the eMail. (Just like a postman delivering mail to your door).

But to leave the mail at the Post Office & have it delivered to your door you need to TICK the Box in Outlook to say "Leave Copy on the Server" as Richy99 said. Not many do this so its not always Ticked, you have to select that option....

After 90 Days the eMails are DELETED off the Server by NTL/Virgin, so if you want the eMails to be SAVED forever you will be best getting a Yahoo or GMail account (Yahoo Mail Plus is $20 a year) and that will allow you to use POP 3 access (thats how Outlook connects to eMails) & Yahoo has an UNLIMITED Mailbox so you can leave EVERY Message there for use when not at the Laptop or Home PC.
