Don't make Grandmother Jenny Brown feel a complete failure.
From how I read the article it was Julie Dent, from the Wimblington Sports Committee who made the comment that her own baking had been subject to another strange decision.

As for myself, I would never get as far as entering a competition with my baking. Even the birds refused to eat the first cake I baked when I was first married and since then I've got worse
