You dont need to clone your mac address, the fact that it worked before you started fiddling with it should tell you that.

Can you reverse the changes you made to get it going and then make the changes again? If you cant do that id suggest doing a factory reset and start from there. At least you will know your back to the point before you made any changes.

Yes your right it need to be a DHCP connection type.
