It should not screw anything up as Internet Explorer or Firefox will just use whatever Internet connection there is.
If you are on NTL (VirginMedia) broadband you should have your browser settings to connect automatically or direct connection to the Internet.
This will not cuase any problems for when you change who you connect through.
