I dunno if you could sign up for ADSL and then cancell if within 14 days if you are unhappy with the speed. Sounds like a waste though, you'd think it would be cheaper to send an engineer out for free.
Not sure what the meter would measure, its be 7+ years since a BT line was used in this house so im guessing it may be discinnected somewhere along the line by now. Plus the BT box is linked to the cable box to make the sockets in the wall around the house live
