Quick question on changing ISP.

I've finally decided to cut and run from VM now. Poor service speed wise, you're lucky if you can find someone in CS that understands English and basic problems (I had 1 guy reading the prompt on the screen, before every question he kept saying "Now ask the customer") but their inability to listen is what really makes me want to leave them.

I don't want to pay via direct debit. There's a good reason, but I wont go into it. Anyway, so I say no, and they want to charge me a £5er a month. Unhappy with that, I just say I'd prefer to cancel (as you do, cancel threats always get them offering stuff) and they waive it for a few months. Anyway, onto the present, bill arrives. Now not only are they still charging me (only a 5er, but it's my 5er you know) and they also claim i'm in a months arrears and I owe them over a ton for 2 months of the broadband alone (and nothing else). At most that should have been £90 correct (2x£39.99 and 2x5er) and on the phone they couldn't even understand my complaint, so I've given up.

Anyway, after the rant (sorry, long one) all I'm wondering is what now? According to BT, I can only get upto 512k on my phone line, but is there any thing else? Or am I doomed to either slow speeds, or poor customer services?
