Thumbs down Smart card probs??

Ever since the other day and my box updated to show the new virgin media set up i get an error message every time i switch channel. It tells me that my smartcard isnt inserted properly, what do i do?
And when I switch the box on for the first time each day the message appears every 30 seconds or so and i have to turn the box off completely. But i still get the message every time i switch channels, so annoying! Anyone resolved this problem?
