Perhaps I should have said the S5700 is overall the better camera
for me.
The S9600 is obviously the better specified camera, but it's too large and too heavy for me to carry on a daily basis in my backpack. I've always carried a camera with me even if it was a small compact, I was looking for something to replace my Ricoh RR30. The S5700 fits the bill
for me for the sort of photography I'm interested in. I have a friend who bought the Nikon D80, I think he's taken it out once and shot a half a dozen images because it's too bulky to carry around with him. So it sits there waiting for him to take it on a dedicated photography shoot. What a waste of money.
