Re: What's The fastest AMD Socket 939 Dual Core Processor?

939 X2's are as good as extinct these days especially the good ones (4400+ and 4800+ were canned a long time ago)
This is all due to the amd's cunning shoot oneself in both feet plan.

The first stage was remove all good cpus (1meg cache per core) and make them opteron only, the second stage was a rapid kill off the 939 platform, and forcing people who just wanted a little more cpu power to shell out for new ram and the am2 platform.
However this has backfired as instead of going from 939-> AM2 the bulk of the crowd are going to S775 and the core 2 duo lineup as the c2d costs similar, peforms better, has imediate upgrades avaliable in the form of the core 2 quad and so far the next gen intel chips are working on current boards
(i975x is what penryn has been showcased with)

if you look at the latest financial results amd are in deep trouble, there price war with intel isnt working as they are still loosing market share and revenue at the same time, operating losses are hughe and they will go under by the end of the year unless they get a drastic turn around (intel and nvidia are ganging up on them tho)
