Hey guys, thanks for the replies!

After a bit more channel hopping, I found that with my laptop I get a consistent 6mb, while with the computer upstairs with the better wifi card, I can get 8-10mb depending on interference. So for the upstairs pc at least, it's definately the amount of AP's in the vicinity, which is fine as it means I don't have to replace my hardware! For the laptop I would imagine its just the constraints of the built in wifi chip but again the other AP's could be causing limitation as well.

I wish for this upcoming 802.11N standard, they would have changed the frequency that they work on as clearly 2.5ghz is getting saturated in my area!
