the day I see 8Mb solid on ADSL I will buy a lottery ticket knowing it will be the winning one
I have 10Mb VM
and 8Mb Zen ADSL Pro (20:1 contention)
my VM NEVER drops below 8.8Mb
is connected 24/7 never fails!
unfortunatly I also need multiple fixed IP addresses

for this I use Zen (the best ADSL ISP I have found) the cost of this is £34 (not a lot cheaper than VM)
the ADSL loses sync on average 3 times a day.. connection speeds?
at very best 6.3Mb... at peak times sub 400 Kb/s
if VM would do fixed IPs I would scrap the ADSL without a thought

I am using a LINUX router that keeps detailed logs so I can be quite certain of these figures

BTW I live approx 1.6 KM from the exchange
another point.. because (it seems) there is less packet fragmentation and latency in the VM network VOIP also works considerably better!
just my 2p!
