Re: 20 Meg From June
Looking at my own personal experience, what exactly will I gain? I am on the 10meg service and get a download speed of over 1mb during the day. As soon as 6pm comes it drops to 600k, no more no less. I guess this is down to the dreaded traffic shaping. Now, if they need to do that now to keep my service running smoothly, what will suddenly change come 1st May? Will they find they have an abundance of bandwidth they had dropped behind the sofa? Or will they charge me £2 per month more and all evening long I'll still be on 600k rather than over 2mb that I should be.
One interesting point that has been said now by 2 customer service staff has really narked me however. I expressed an interest in switching to Sky because Virgin are now ludicrously expensive compared to anyone else. And before anyone says anything about distance from exchanges, I'm NOT getting my full speed from NTL so it's a stupid point to make.
Anyway, both members of staff have said to me that I should stick with NTl as they offer a "guaranteed 10meg" while ADSL is an "upto" figure. Oh if only they were correctly informed.
