Yep, the Sky router is a Netgear DG834GT.

You can flash the Sky router with normal Netgear DG834GT firmware, however it's a violation of the Sky BB Terms & Conditions (as is using an alternative router to the one they provide). Is possible though.

The Sky router does connect using a username/password. However, the custom Sky firmware hides these from the customer. If you flash with normal Netgear firmware, it reveals the username/password info hidden by the Sky firmware.
